Phenotype

thick floral stems; encodes a protein of the cytochrome P-450 family required for the regulated polar elongation of leaf cells. The average length of the hypocotyl and primary root of the rot3-2 mutant 9 days after sowing did not differ from those of the wild type, as was true also for the rot3-1 mutant. However, cotyledons of the rot3-2 mutant were slightly larger than those of the wild type, whereas the rot3-1 mutant had normal cotyledons. The leaves of the rot3-2 mutant were longer and wider than those of the wild type. The petioles of the rot3 mutant plants were shorter than those of the wild type. Petals, sepals, stamens and pistils are all larger than those of wild type
